1. Our Editorial Principles
Every piece of content on Loceno is guided by four core principles. These shape how we create, curate, and maintain the information you rely on:
- Accuracy: We strive to present correct, verified information. When we're unsure, we say so. When we're wrong, we fix it.
- Clarity: Content should be easy to read, scan, and understand. We avoid jargon, clutter, and unnecessary complexity.
- Usefulness: Every element on a listing page should help users make informed decisions — from hours and location to reviews and amenities.
- Trust: We are transparent about our sources, our processes, and the limitations of our data. Trust is earned through honesty.
These principles apply to all content types on Loceno — business listings, category descriptions, editorial summaries, FAQs, guides, and platform copy.
2. How Listing Content Is Created
A typical business listing on Loceno is built through a multi-step process that combines structured data, community input, and editorial refinement:
Step 1: Data Collection
Business information is gathered from one or more sources — business owner submissions, public registries, mapping data, or third-party providers. Key data points include name, address, category, phone number, website, and hours of operation.
Step 2: Content Structuring
Raw data is organized into a consistent, scannable format. This includes categorization, tagging amenities and highlights, structuring hours into a weekly table, and formatting contact information.
Step 3: Content Enhancement
Where appropriate, additional content is created to make listings more useful. This may include:
- A descriptive "About" section summarizing the business
- Key highlights and notable features
- Contextual FAQ items relevant to the business type
- Nearby places and similar business suggestions
Step 4: Review & Publication
Before publication, listings go through a quality check to verify completeness, consistency, and accuracy. Listings that don't meet our standards are flagged for further review or held until additional information is available.
3. Data Sources
Loceno uses a combination of data sources to build and maintain listings. We believe in transparency about where our information comes from:
- Business Owner Submissions: The most direct and reliable source. Business owners can submit and update their own information through our Submit a Business page or by claiming an existing listing.
- Public Data & Government Registries: Official business registrations, licenses, and publicly available directory data.
- Mapping & Location Services: Geographic data from mapping providers (e.g., Google Maps) for addresses, coordinates, and place verification.
- User Contributions: Reviews, ratings, photos, and corrections submitted by Loceno users. Community input is a vital layer of our data.
- Third-Party Data Providers: Trusted commercial data sources that aggregate business information across regions.
- Editorial Research: Direct research conducted by our team — visiting websites, verifying phone numbers, checking social media profiles, and cross-referencing multiple sources.
When sources conflict, we prioritize the most recent and most authoritative source — with direct business owner input taking the highest precedence.
4. Role of AI in Content Creation
Loceno uses artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to assist in content creation and structuring. We believe it's important to be upfront about how and where AI is used:
What AI Helps With
- Business Summaries: AI may generate "About" descriptions for listings based on available data — category, location, amenities, reviews, and public information.
- Content Structuring: AI helps organize raw business data into consistent, well-formatted listing pages.
- FAQ Generation: Common questions and answers may be generated based on business type, category, and frequently searched queries.
- Category & Tag Suggestions: AI suggests relevant categories, amenity tags, and highlights based on business descriptions and data patterns.
- Grammar & Clarity: AI tools may be used to improve the readability and consistency of editorial content.
What AI Does NOT Do
- AI does not fabricate reviews or ratings.
- AI does not create fake businesses or listings.
- AI does not make editorial decisions about which businesses to feature or prioritize.
- AI does not replace human judgment for quality-critical decisions.
Our Commitment
AI-generated content is treated as a first draft, not a final product. All AI-assisted content is subject to the same accuracy and quality standards as human-written content. We are continuously improving our AI processes to reduce errors and increase reliability.
We acknowledge that AI-generated content may occasionally contain inaccuracies or lack nuance. Users should verify important details directly with the business. If you spot an error in AI-generated content, please let us know.
5. User Reviews & Community Contributions
User-generated content — reviews, ratings, photos, and corrections — is a critical part of the Loceno experience. Here's how we handle it:
Review Guidelines
- Reviews should be based on genuine, firsthand experiences.
- Reviews should be respectful, constructive, and relevant to the business.
- Reviews must not contain spam, promotional content, or personally identifiable information about third parties.
- We do not allow fake reviews, paid reviews, or reviews from competitors intended to harm a business's reputation.
Moderation
We use a combination of automated tools and human review to monitor user-generated content. Content that violates our guidelines may be removed. Repeated violations may result in account suspension.
Business Owner Responses
Business owners who have claimed their listing can respond to reviews. We encourage professional and constructive responses that address the reviewer's experience.
6. Accuracy Standards
We hold all content on Loceno to the following accuracy standards:
- Factual Correctness: Business names, addresses, phone numbers, and hours should match reality. We verify these through multiple sources when possible.
- Timeliness: Information should reflect the current state of the business. We periodically review listings for outdated data.
- Completeness: Listings should include all essential information a user needs to make a decision — at minimum: name, category, location, and hours.
- Consistency: Content formatting, tone, and structure should be consistent across all listings and pages.
- No Misleading Claims: We do not exaggerate, fabricate, or misrepresent business attributes. If data is unavailable, we leave the field empty rather than guessing.
When we identify content that falls below these standards, we take corrective action — updating, flagging, or removing the content as appropriate.
7. Corrections & Updates
Keeping content accurate is an ongoing process. We handle corrections and updates through several channels:
Business Owner Updates
Verified business owners can update their listing information at any time through their dashboard. Changes are reviewed and published promptly — typically within 24–48 hours.
User-Reported Corrections
Any user can report inaccurate information on a listing. Reports are reviewed by our team and corrected when verified. We appreciate and encourage user corrections — they make Loceno better for everyone.
Periodic Reviews
Our editorial team conducts periodic reviews of listings to check for outdated information, closed businesses, and data inconsistencies. High-traffic listings are reviewed more frequently.
Automated Monitoring
We use automated tools to detect potential issues — such as phone numbers that are no longer in service, websites that return errors, or addresses that don't match geocoded locations.
8. Reporting Inaccuracies
If you find content on Loceno that is incorrect, outdated, misleading, or inappropriate, we want to hear from you. Here's how to report it:
- Contact Form: Visit our Contact page and select "Report an Issue" as the category. Include the listing URL and describe what's incorrect.
- Email: Send details to [email protected] or [email protected].
- Business Owners: If you own the business, you can claim your listing and make corrections directly.
We review all reports promptly and take corrective action as needed. If your report leads to a correction, we may not notify you individually, but rest assured your contribution helps improve the platform for everyone.
9. Editorial Independence
Loceno's editorial content is created independently and is not influenced by commercial relationships, advertising, or business partnerships. Specifically:
- Businesses cannot pay to improve their search ranking or review scores.
- Sponsored or promoted content, if introduced in the future, will be clearly labeled as such.
- Our editorial team operates independently from our business development and sales teams.
- We do not accept payment in exchange for positive reviews, featured placements, or editorial coverage.
If we ever introduce premium features for businesses (such as promoted listings), these will be clearly distinguished from organic editorial content. Our commitment to editorial independence is non-negotiable.
10. Continuous Improvement
Our editorial processes are never "done." We continuously work to improve the quality, accuracy, and usefulness of content on Loceno. Our improvement efforts include:
- Refining AI models and prompts to produce more accurate and nuanced content.
- Expanding our data sources to cover more businesses and regions.
- Building better tools for business owners to manage and update their listings.
- Investing in content moderation to maintain high-quality user contributions.
- Listening to user feedback to identify content gaps and improvement opportunities.
